Internet is in and out all the time. Need to do some of my work from home and never know if it is going to be working. Sometimes will come back up with a few minutes of messing around, sometimes an hour to get it to come back. Also, I thought it was pretty shitty that they are not giving people a break during the pandemic. As if there slow ass service isn't bad enough, they will only give a break to people with kids in school. OOOOh sure, cuz the rest of us don't need the internet for anything and have to pay your outrageous bills. I have been trying to switch for years but in a somewhat rural area, this is my only option. I hate them.

Charter (Spectrum in my area) "community wi-fi" is forced on us by the holding company of our apartment building. There are random service outages, for hours at a time, cannot even log into the app or webpage using smartphone/wifi hotspot because it says our account doesn't exist. This persists even after service is restored. Was sold some BS about how all the routers are "in phase" so even at peak times it is fast, and 300MBps can run as fast as gigabit connection - absolutely not, it is often slow as hell during the day. Sometimes so bad I can't even check my bank balance because it times out. I cannot login to add new MAC addresses to enable other devices to connect to it, because of aforementioned account rejection. After this latest outage, my laptop connects, but my phone will not, and I cannot by any means check to see if the MAC address for my phone changed thus blocking the connection or if this is just yet another unexplained bullshit error. There is no troubleshooting, you cannot log into the router to adjust security settings, only a (non-functioning) admin page to add new devices. I have also had devices show up in the past that I never authorized appear in the whitelist which is creepy and a security issue. Even the Guest network goes down. TV service is forced, raising the price, even when not desired. I could go on but I am exhausted from fighting with this piece of crap service after the most recent random theft of service.

People are out of work and these clowns don't give a rat's ass. Will get rid of the TV at the end of my current billing cycle. Requests were made for the proper equipment and even some correct signs showed up however the company not only did not issue them they took them back. Please have your lawyers request all emails pertaining to safety signs, DOT process, over head lighting, ect. You will have what you need to put charter in its place.

Have had two technicians out to check my cable TV reception. My picture and sound will stop or hesitate every so often. Sometimes every five seconds. My house and property have been checked everywhere by both techs. The last one told me to call his supervisor and gave me his number. His supervisor does not answer his phone calls or return calls. So I call charter back today, two weeks later. I am told by the person at charter that the tech has to be the one who requests that they check the telephone poles for the problem . Both Techs said they believe the problem is at the poles. Why did'int the techs report it???? Now I have to call one of the techs directly. I just happen to number. I just got the tech on the phone and he said he will have his supervisor call me! We will see.

Charter knows their boxes, modems and routers do not work. There are hundreds of emails with over 100 known issues with the eiquiment for the past 3 years with no ETA for fixes. The company is gearing up to collapse its self in true charter fashion. They got the stocks up extremely high which is amazing since nothing works anywhere. I'm sure all the investors of the merger are going to sell very soon and charter will go bankrupt again.

Wow. I cannot begin to describe how jacked the On Demand service is. Half the time it doesn't even work, displaying instead a bevy of error codes, mostly the infamous HL1000 code, even after rebooting the set-top box! When it does work, God forbid you try to watch anything longer than an hour! The program starts to glitch and the sound skips, as if the program can no longer be buffered. Nothing like having to break immersion by pausing a movie for 30+ seconds just so the box can catch up. I swear I cannot recall ever having this problem with TWC.

And then there are the channels themselves. Picture glitches occasionally, displaying artifacts on the screen that probably wouldn't be there if Charter would just upgrade their boxes. It's as if the antennae needs to be readjusted - except there aren't any as this is cable TV! And 1080i? Really? My gaming console has better resolution than that! Not to mention the next-gen consoles will be 8K, or that most streaming services offer 4K - why can't we get true 1080p? Oh yeah, those outdated set-top boxes...

If you enjoy paying a premium for subpar resolution, internet, On Demand, and service blackouts just because the sun is shining or the moon is full, then Charter's Spectrum is for you. Maybe I should just get my service somewhere else - oh wait, I can't, because there aren't any other providers here. You'd think there were laws against monopolies in this country...

Worst possible customer service ever. When my mom passed away they would not allow me to cancel her internet plan without first bringing a death certificate to an office. No I couldn't mail a copy, said I must bring one in person to cancel her service for security reasons. Hmmm, so if I don't pay the bill eventually you'll cut off her service right? Ridiculous to cause someone who is going through loss of a loved one and a million things to take care of with their death to go to extra trouble to have internet service shut off. NO other biller required that I hand deliver a death certificate to their office to get the internet shut off. I even had the security code and copy of her bill for her account!

I used to be amused by regional news in DC given all the national attention on every channel; but, having moved back home, I never knew how important the LGBTQ issues related to the local traffic, Trump's policy with China or Saudi Arabia dealt with my weather forecast, or the First Lady's decorations for the White House effected my Christmas pocket book...I just never knew. Seriously Spectrum!? I still work in politics and I follow national news/politics every day (and do NOT do so on your network). The honest joke on me is that I know NOTHING of what is happening in my own town....except for that, just now on your channel, ***BREAKING NEWS***, mountain cedar season has now started. Breaking news for Spectrum here in Austin....telling us this is 'Cedar Flu' season is not news (happens every year like clock work) and no amount of how Gov Newsom's (CA) policies on some initiative regarding a turtle crossing the road and the beneficial environmental impact his $1B plan will have will change this fact.

I was in Kanagawa, Kanagawa is 0.01% the size of Minnesota, and population ratio by size would mean 0.007% the number of customers.

This means the WORKLOAD IS 0.01% OR LESS for Charter, yet they STILL have regular interruptions where we must waste days for service calls!

I hate hate hate spectrum more than I can describe in words! They are the most overpriced unreliable garbage poor excuse of an internet company on the planet in my experience. They need to be forced out of business for their shady business ethics. I started out with charter almost 6 years ago & they were a little better but spectrum beats all. Besides the inconsistent internet streaming, half of the cable in the house not working lately, trying to cancel the service was a nightmare. You get cut off after waiting forever to get someone on the phone so I’m not under a contract because they could care less about offering loyal customers any type of break so I just didnt pay the bill & they took care of it for me & cut it off. Backfired on them because I’m not turning it back on. I wouldnt if they were the last internet cable company on earth. I’d sit and watch grass grow before I’d ever do that. I’ll pay the final bill and be rid of them forever! I’m going with a small local company again who might not offer all the big fancy things spectrum claims to but they either dont really exist to begin with or dont work most of the time anyway & at the prices they charge, no thank you. They do not value their existing customers and will lie to get new suckers stuck in a contract. I will never & I promise never to have one of my hard earned pennies go towards funding another vacation home or boat to add to Rutledge’s collection. Ditching Charter after 18 years. Last month they changed my due date for billing. Now my due date is BEFORE I get paid and have the ability to pay it. This includes the supposed 9 day grace period. So if I pay on the 1st of the month by the time they get it is already late and I get assessed a late fee every month. I have been with them for almost 20 years. Never been late, never missed a payment. The old due date was working fine and I had an excellent payment history with them, but someone in corporate decided it would be a good idea to have a rigid billing system that won't allow for customer convenience. I am on a fixed government income, I get paid once a month. How am I supposed to pay a bill before I get paid? Customer service was sympathetic enough, but completely unable to help saying that they don't have the ability to adjust due dates back to before the change. Reminds me of the Banks before 2008 when they were making money hand over fist on late fees by rigging the system and trying to ensure customers paid late, that is until congress stepped in and forced them to stop!!!! Charter SUCKS!!!!! They are greedy bastards!!!! Corporate greed at its finest.

Just got off the phone with a Charter/Spectrum rep and another round of ‘I understand’ and ‘I’m sorry’, but they don’t and they’re not.
I’m waiting for the call back so I can provide feedback on their ‘service’. I bet they don’t call me! They don’t want to give me a chance to let them know how angry I feel.
Earlier this month the cable went out and we decided against fixing it (probably the Spectrum owned splitter in the attic, again.). We decided to cancel instead and save a bit of money.
Rep at the store handled everything just fine, gave me the new price and told me I might have to deal with Cust Svc if my bill is wrong.

I auto paid the bill, on time, as usual with the new rate, but my account indicated I still owed a remaining balance, ie the remainder of the monthly bill for service I never got. Service was disconnected within 24 hours so not even Cable on tv would work.
I was never told that or I would have kept the service until the end of the month (3 weeks).
... and just co-incidentally they switched to a subscription service the week before and no longer pro-rate their services.
I have Cancer and recently broke my wrist, so money is tight, and I explained this to the reps.
Their false concern is contemptible!
They kept repeating that they were only subscription service and don’t pro-rate prorate refunds.Over and over again! I spoke to supposed supervisor who gave me the same company line. I wonder how much longer they’ll be working for Charter.
Too bad the rep who cancelled my cable and took the equipment never bothered to mention that. It’s probably because the internal communication are so bad.
I used to work for these scumbags. It gave me high blood pressure and digestive problems as well as anxiety, and I gained 40 lbs. I finally quit because I couldn’t deal with their version of customer service.., and the many, many angry customers who complained on almost every call.
Previous service jobs instilled in me the ideal of serving the customer and solving problems to the customers satisfaction, not adding to their unhappiness and frustration.
But this job was to hold back the tide of customer complaints. We had to bill customers every time we ‘rolled a truck’ so invalids who couldn’t get to a store to swap a bad modem were billed to have a tech deliver and install one ( wait, isn’t that their job? apparently not).
The call center goes thru so many reps, it’s obvious why they’re always advertising for help.
.., and for the cancer surgery and treatment, well they always claim best in class benefits, so the medical would be covered, but since I hadn’t worked their for quite a year I wasn’t eligible for disability leave so I would lose my job... and my benefits.
‘So sorry’, they say, ‘I understand’ It’s like a mantra. Except they aren’t and they don’t...

They send a tech, tech might replace line, tech will probably replace modem, nothing will actually change. They charge $70+/month for this.

They tried blaming my equipment, so I showed them the logs from their own modem where it was clear it was losing signal. They replaced the modem with a model where I can't access the logs.

They will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

It isn't like it's down 24-7, but like at least once a day I go through a period of about an hour where the service is up, and down, and up and down. The techs have been out to this house (as well as my last address) several times and each time the tech "finds" something wrong. Why didn't the last guy find that?!?! Then they blame it on my router. So I go buy a super-duper router. Guess what? Still have the problem so they say well you can rent one of our routers. Why would that make a difference? Do you have your modem engineered to NOT work with the industry's leading technology? I dropped their cable service but am still dependent on their crappy internet service to stream. If there was another choice in my smaller town, I would switch immediately!!!!

Their Accepted Callers list actually works great but it is limited to 30 or so accepted numbers. With three people in one house hold that is not enough for us. I called and asked if they would be willing to make the list longer. Said they would "pass on the idea. So far a no go on that. I guess adding text numbers to a list file is so huge their servers can't handle the enormous space it would take to make the list longer. Otherwise we are pleased with the service. Except what they charge if you just want your local channels and nothing more. Talk about high priced!

If there was another option, I would have it, but At&t U-verse is absolutely pathetic and while they sell you 30mbps packages, it drops below .5 mbps regularly.

Charter's reply is to directly wire and not use wireless. Then why am I paying for wireless service; plus I can not hard wire everything in if I want to tablet or phone it in different rooms at different times. The children are done with it, as all their videos or games are too slow on their tablets.
Please note that the hard wired items are ALSO WAY TOO SLOW!

Now 4 months later it goes from $9.95 to $11.99 ($2.04)!!! That's a more than 35% increase in 4 months and I still watch the same channels and I don't think they have added any new channels. It doesn't seem to bother them our electric company is installing fiber optic cable in a very large part of the Charter service area. I'll jump on board even if it cost more for a couple of years to get the "New Customer" deal if I ever want to come back. Been with charter for 34 years but they don't care so neither do I.

A few years back, Charter bought out Bresnan Communications. It was my understanding that the FCC indicated to Charter that they had to continue to honor Bresnan.net email accounts. Ever since that happened, my email service has gone to hell in a big way. The latest is that friends and family I have communicated with for years via email are no longer able to receive my emails - they come back marked "email returned as return email address refused." So my thinking is that Charter (Spectrum) has been slowly but systematically identifying other service providers and informing them that "bresnan.net" is no longer viable so they will refuse the emails, thus forcing those of us stupid enough to have continued with those addresses to find a new email system and thus saving Charter(Spectrum) some money. Any other takes on this issue?

Called the main phone number for customer support and got an automated message that my appointment was for a day and date that was not even in sync with this year's calendar. Got back to my computer and logged into my account which indicated I had NO appointment. So, I called the main number again and waited for a live service rep who told me my original appointment was marked as "cancelled." He told me that he would escalate the issue and that the local branch would contact me to set up another appointment. Haven't heard a peep since. Nada. Zilch. Just the sound of crickets. I rue the day that Charter bought out my service provider Bright House Networks, with whom I never had a problem over the span of twenty years. Yet another example of a company too big to manage itself.

We moved a few months ago and new house was set up for Charter Spectrum, so thought we'd give it a try, as we've had DISH satellite for TV and another satellite service for internet for past several years living in a rural area. No real complaints with DISH, other than the occasional outage in heavy rain, no biggie. Very good customer service. Satellite internet was better than dial up, but looked forward to having high speed for the first time.
The Charter internet has been pretty good, but there have been more problems in the first three months of TV service with Charter than the last 11 years with DISH. First there were several channels that wouldn't come in, the picture was all scrambled/pixelated and a couple channels went completely out when you turned on lights in the house. Plus the DVR box had such delayed reaction to remote commands that you'd press it again and then several seconds later it would finally react and do something completely different because you pressed it twice...or three times before it finally responded. Tech came out and fixed the screwed up channels by cutting and redoing the main cable connection. But the DVR box remained slow and unresponsive.
Finally called service and was told we could take it in and trade it for a new box. NEW new, I asked? Because I was amazed to discover that when we signed up for new service, we were given used equipment...equipment that still had someone else's recordings on it...seriously? Oh yes sir, service rep says, brand new box. Not. So second used junk box constantly crashed in response to pausing, rewinding, playing both live and recorded programs. Lost recordings, lost paused place in program, etc.
Got third box today, lost all recordings and settings again in the process, of course. Went through activation process again. Reset all the recordings again. Now we can't access the guide, the menu or the DVR service. Waited six hours, rebooted box a couple times, finally called tech support. Guy was nice, but clueless, wanted to set up another service call so he could put into motion something called a "remedy ticket" after that didn't work, which it probably wouldn't, because Charter's equipment is JUNK. Gave me the spiel about how they're gearing up for a big renovation and new system, equipment, etc. So everyone just has to put up with this crap until then?

Thought we'd try to put up with the b.s. until the regular pricing kicked in, but after DVR service fee and extra box fees, the price ain't all that great anyway, because we don't use the so-called landline that you're forced to sign up for to get a better price. Guess I'll be giving my DISH guy a call and going back to satellite. Never had any of these problems with DISH and was able to choose my programming ala carte to boot with DISH Flex Pack. Miss being able to set show timers, miss being able to have instant access to the guide without having the box freak out over it. Miss being able to have HD and SD channels displayed in succession for each channel rather than having to scroll through a confusing repeat of the same channels that don't clearly show their designation, miss being able to record the exact program at the exact time I want to record it, rather than having to choose between "new" or "all" and the box chooses the time. WTH is up with that? DISH Flex pack, I'm coming back!

Well I'm trying to watch a movie, we stream all of our programming so we rely on internet service to do this, but it crashes a dozen or more times a day. It's probably due to the noise-laden infrastructure out here that they never fix. Our neighbor has something pumping noise into the system so instead of fixing the problem, they instead cut off their service. What happened to sending a technician to fix the issue? Oh wait...i remember... their in house techs are about as useless as a bull with boobs. They are under trained and lazy. And why would they fix the issue when they can could continuously make money on service calls? $65 service fee because they come out do their bull crap tests (they don't even know what to look for) and of course, find nothing wrong and charge you for nothing. Then, your internet crashes yet again and you're stuck paying a bill for a service that blows and can do nothing about it because they have quite the monopoly here. I worked for them and they treat service partners as bad as their subscribers. I hate hate hate hate with the deepest parts of my soul hate this company. I wish all copper based networks were outlawed and they were all forced to convert to fiber optics. We would never again have this issue.

In 20+ years of professional IT experience I have never heard of a major ISP actually shutting down your service on a weekly basis for maintenance (or being so naive that they think people only work during the day). Major shutdowns usually only occur once every 4-6 months! And major providers always have ways to reroute your service so it's uninterrupted during smaller "weekly" maintenance cycles. I have had AT&T, Comcast, Brighthouse, and even the "old" RoadRunner service in 8 different states and have never had this problem. Only Spectrum does this. I believe at the very least we should have a prorated bill whenever they do this if they truly believe it is a necessary "regular scheduled" thing. But that is besides the point. In these modern times several thousand customers work out of their home. And a lot of us do business 24/7 (some of us have international clients and need to be online when our client's country is open for business). We lose business, clients and contracts whenever interruption in service occurs.

If there was any other provider here I would be gone. They have rural America held hostage and we all want them gone. Hello everyone. This is embarrassing but I had Charter to provide internet service to my home. From the very beginning I had troubles. My service would buffer until I just cut it off out of frustration. But my main problem was no service at all. I spent over $400 having a technician come and "attempt" to repair it while still paying my bill on time. I did this until I realized I was being screwed over by Charter Communications. Yes, I am an idiot for thinking Charter had my interests in mind and that an agreement we both agreed to would be upheld. This business is a criminal enterprise that will lie to you and rob you blind while smiling and assuring you everything will be repaired soon.. but it never was. So taking the next logical step, I terminated my service. Charter then sent me a bill for over $600 for maintenance costs or some crap to bleed me for more money. In a reply to this an email was sent and I declined to pay and stated my position and called them out. They retaliated and turned that fake bill over to a collection agency attempting to ruin my credit because I wouldn't allow them to rob me any longer. I then wrote another email to Charter and a phone call to the collection agency and laid it all out again how Charter are criminals and that I was owed either service or my money back plus a few choice words I won't repeat here. Eventually, after some time over a few months I was told the bill was removed from collections and they were sorry about the mistake. Lol., "sorry for the mistake?" There was no mistake, I was being railroaded and robbed. Charter Communication+Time Warner and so now Spectrum Internet will take advantage of you if possible. Don't be an idiot. Do research before you commit to this company.

When Charter bought out our company they told us all about how much they loved the culture of the old company. They are some sick people because they strangled every last bit of that culture out that the claimed to love.

Upper management has zero respect for employees. They bury bad news under a load of smoke and mirrors. After reading five paragraphs of an email telling us how much money employees can save by switching to Spectrum Mobile the finally told us that there is no employee discount on monthly fees or handsets.

When Tom Rutledge waddled his decrepit carcass down south and held a town hall he asked people to submit questions. Every single one of the questions he answered was a softball and he purposely weeded out tough questions he didn't want to answer. He sat there with his stupid half smile like he was doing us a favor by even entertaining the thought that he would be truthful.

Management's primary method of motivation is through fear. Gone are the small semiannual bonuses. Gone are the company Christmas and summer parties. Gone are casual weekends. They tell you that they can't motivate you in any way that costs money because it negatively impacts the stock price but then they take away things that cost nothing because f%@k you, that's why.

Billing: "I'm sorry but it seems the work order for the tranfer of service wasnt handled correctly. I can't reactivate your service. Let me transfer you to sales"

15 minutes later

Sales: "I can't transfer your old account information. I'll have to process you as a new customer. The good news is you'll get our "NEW CUSTOMER RATE" which should be less than what you were paying. Now can I just have you repeat your name and birthdate so I can start the order?"

Rutledge then walks away with a rebuilt West Coast operation now debt free by driving cable rates sky high on previous TWC/Brighthouse customers. I have business internet service with them. I also added, and paid for, a static IP address because I host a website out of my home. One day, after a scheduled maintenance window was completed, my internet never came up. I called and after resetting my modem and fiddling with my computer, which took almost an hour, they told me my block of IP addresses was accidentally reallocated somewhere else and they couldn't get it back. Needless to say my site was down for almost 2 days!!! When I escalated to a manager and they finally acknowledged it was their wrong-doing, they gave me a prorated credit for 2 days. A whopping $6. My website brings in more than $2000/mo in revenue and $6 is going to make up for theor incompetence???? I don't think so.

For those of you who understand networking and hosting a web site, losing an IP address suddenly is unspeakable. DNS changes could take 48 hours to propogate around the world. Until then, your site is down.

Just cancelled Charter last week and going to try YoutubeTV or something else. Anything is better than what Charter was offering. I was paying close to $120/mo for "Expanded Basic" package. WTF!!! No premium channels!!! Are you kidding me??? The set-top box continuously had problems. For some reason, every time during sports playoffs, the picture freezes and play constantly. If I recorded the event, the freeze and play is also recorded. Had to bring it in to swap it out almost every year or so. But first I had to call Support and speak to the ridiculous auto attendant only to have to answer the same questions again after I get a live attendant.

Oh - I also have my internet through Charter. Problems not as bad but customer service is just as bad. One time, prior to calling them, I tried to reset my modem myself. I know they will ask me to leave it unplugged for a certain time so I made sure I did that first. When I called, sure enough they had me unplug the modem. When I told them I already did that, they asked how long I left it unplugged - I said about 30 seconds. Their response - "Oh, that's not long enough. You have to leave it unplugged for at least 45 seconds". Are you kidding me?!?!?

Enough said - I'm getting worked up just writing this. Charter / Spectrum is just a company with a monopoly that, hopefully, will be shut down or go bankrupt. I tell everyone to not use Charter if they can. The absolutely SUCK!!!

If you are elderly or disabled on a fixed income make sure the FCC knows your being ripped off by Charter/Spectrum and mention the idea of a class action lawsuit being a good possibility.
Call the FCC over and over and over until they don't want to hear from us anymore, this is how you fix Charter/Spectrum's little red wagon.
Jam the FCC call center with complaints about Charter/Spectrum, sooner or later something will have to be done.

Dear Mr. Rutledge,

I am writing to you with extreme displeasure in response to Charter’s discriminatory pricing and fraudulent marketing practices.

Due to expiration of promotional pricing rates I am now expected to pay 13.5% more for the same service level with no additional value added by Charter. Meanwhile new customers can enjoy a rate 51% less than what Charter is now asking me to pay!!!

As a P&L executive focused on Customer Retention I have never been a fan of pricing strategies that soak GM$ from your best customers. And as a loyal customer I detest it.

This is exacerbated by Charter’s duplicitous marketing that accuses it competitors of the very same “promotional pricing” schemes, clearly implying that Charter does not practice them.

Mr. Rutledge, I appreciate that you have a long history in the cable business. I recognize that you face competitive disruption of your long-entrenched business model reliant on adding subscribers. So please know that while I respect your battle, I am incredulous that Charter is so nonchalant about its existing customers and practically inviting them to cord-cut.

Clearly from your world class experience you have assembled a team that recognizes there are numerous ways to embrace your customer base while still offering incentives to retain market share. I would like to be presented one of those options to continue on with Charter.

Back to canceling though, did Spectrum/Charter ask me what was wrong or why I wanted to cancel? Nope, first thing they did is “inform” me that my Internet rate is going to rise from 40 to 65. No “sorry we never replaced your terrible DVR that couldn’t handle looking seven days out on the guide, would skip recording shows for no reason, stopped displaying CC, and whose interface looked and functioned worse than a previous DVR from 2005.”, just “hey, you can cancel, but we’re going to stick it to you in another area.” Not to mention the first person I talked to blatantly lied when she said “we have no retention department” and then transferred me to someone who answered “I’m X, from the Retention Department.” Ironically this person showed no interest in retaining me, only again reiterating that my rate for Internet was going to increase. The first person’s department should have been named “Waste Your Time” (instead of Customer Service”) and the second should have been “Cancellations” (instead of “Retention”). This would aligned with their actual tactics.

The "support tech" just kept repeating that all apps do this and there is no way to stop it. I pointed out that it is a programming choice and they chose not to allow an opt out option to upsell their own DVR service. She kept saying "I understand that you see it that way." Wow, worst cable company I've ever dealt with, and I've had several throughout the years in multiple cities. This company truly takes the cake, they absolutely dgaf about customer service in any way shape or form, and it's not just dealing with a few bad apples, it seems to be COMPANY POLICY. Not only do they participate in deceptive advertising, (while accusing their competitors of doing the same) they only care about the revenue they bring in through their monopoly. Of course there are streaming options these days that are much cheaper, but guess what..you ll still have to get your broadband internet through the cable company if you want decent speeds, but they not only overpriced for that, they throttle the speeds for "cord cutters", and they've been doing it before the cartel in Congress recently voted to make it legal (abolishing net neutrality)

I honestly don't know who to blame, but I'm not sure even Russia or China (who still control media at the central government level) have zero competition when it comes to internet service providers. Guess we can't blame Charter for behaving like the mafia if the federal government and individual cities allow them to operate that way. I'd love to have a business that was a virtual monopoly that could never be truly cut off from the gravy train...Even if you don't care about watching tv, everyone needs internet these days, and satellite/4G cellular aren't good alternatives to cable. I wish Google had carried out their plan of laying fiber everywhere, at least cable companies would have one competitor.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate all cable companies...just Charter Spectrum. If you have Suddenlink in your area, you're lucky (that's the best I've had)..and no matter how bad it may seem to you, there are worse...much worse. I'm not even going to detail the issues I've had with Charter Spectrum and the arrogance I've experienced, it will just make me angry all over again. On the plus side, their individual installers (likely contractors) are nice, respectful and competent, it's just that you see them far too often for issues that other cable companies can either walk the user through or fix remotely.

If you live in DFW, DON'T get Charter Spectrum! I had Xfinity in Atlanta and it was LIGHT YEARS ahead of what you will get with Charter-Spectrum in DFW for the same price. LIGHT. YEARS. I didn't get channels I ordered here. The tech refused to set up my router in the right room for it. The app BLOWS! It is ALWAYS freezing up, whether on WiFi or LTE. OnDemand is anything but that. With Xfinity, once a show aired, you could watch it onDemand ANYTIME. That's what onDemand means. If a movie was offered on a premium channel, it was offered ALL THE TIME. OnDemand means when I demand it, not "at the provider's leisure." Not the case with Charter. You either have to be there when it airs, or you have to record it. With Xfinity, when you recorded something, you could turn your box off and it would still record to your account. If you turn your box off with Charter while a show is recording, it's like you never set to record at all. The User Interface with Xfinity was clean and easy to use. I have had Charter for over 3 months and STILL haven't figured out the remote or on-screen UI. I'm a millennial, so these things come naturally to me, but I'm an adult now and don't have entire weekends to delve into the intricacies of a crappy remote or UI that has more buttons and non-intuitive selections on it than my father's airplane. To pay for Charter is like settling for gas station coffee at the "convenience" store because you didn't know you could buy drip coffee for the same price at the Starbucks around the corner. DONT DO IT! Demand better! They can offer it, but they refuse to because they want to suck as much money out of you now so that when they DO finally upgrade, then you'll be like "wow, this is awesome! Sure I'll pay EVEN MORE NOW!" Screw you Charter! I DO KNOW BETTER! And now, so does everyone else!

I have had the courtesy of intermittent internet service for two nights in a row now, and meanwhile it seems that internet outages occur with Charter every time a bird shits on one of its towers, at least once every few weeks! I don't know much about internet technology, no more than I understand how electricity works when turning on a light switch, but I suspect there to be a capacity problem or an infrastructure so outdated that it constantly breaks down! Either way, this situation is not good for customers, and I would gladly pay tens of dollars more per month just to avoid the inconvenience if it would help guarantee uninterrupted service. But management has its head up its ass and can't even do a mediocre job for its subscribers - all they are concerned about is meeting profitability goals, and if that means shaving a few dollars off required maintenance, then so be it! What these dumb f%@kers don't realize is that honesty is the best policy, and therefore they would have much better credibility if they simply allowed their customers to know that rates need to increase to facilitate top service. Who wouldn't pay $15 or $20 per month more for that? I had Time Warner Internet for many years with NO problems of any kind. I was even able to get cut rate deals when I needed them, because I lost my job or had my hours cut, so I didn't have to cancel my internet service.

When Charter took over and created Spectrum instead of TWC, they went UP on my bill WITHOUT notifying me. Since they took over, they have gone up on my bill THREE TIMES!!!! And thats in a two year time period!

I called Charter last month to see if I could get a cheaper deal, since I found one Charter special online that was $20 less a month than what I'm paying. I called them and they said I COULD get that special, so I told them I wanted it.

Now my bill has come and my bill has GONE UP AGAIN!!!! It didn't go DOWN, it went UP! So I call their "customer service" which is a joke, and was told I am NOT able to get that internet special I was told I WAS able to get when I called last month!

The internet is come and go, and I have stopped watching TV almost completely (because of Charter) I mean honestly, who wants to watch five minutes of a show and then get bombarded with 10 or 15 minutes of commercials (for real, I timed it)

Very frustrated with Spectrum. Called their customer service in November 2017 to have cable services disconnected effective Dec. 3 while retaining internet. After spending quite a bit of time with the representative who was trying to persuade me not to cancel, I was told the cancellation would be effective Dec. 3. The representative mentioned that I should return the cable box but did not state the cancellation would be effective only on the date the box is returned. Due to serious health issues, I was not able to make the journey to the store to return it. As a result, I'm being charged for the services which Spectrum promised should have been disconnected. My understanding was that I would be charged for the cable box only. After returning the box this week I called Spectrum customer service. The automated voice system said there's a charge of $5.00 to speak to a representative. According to the representative because this disconnection was a "downgrade," Spectrum will charge for the cable service until the box is returned. When I asked how I was expected to be aware of these details, his response was: "Well, I'm telling you now." Spectrum should tell customers on their very first requestl for cable cancellation that the disconnection will become effective the day the box is taken to the store. But, conveniently it seems, this doesn't happen.

Adding insult to injury, minutes after ending the call with this no-help rep, I received a robot call from Spectrum requesting an evaluation of the service I had received. I had to pay $5 to speak to the rep, but Spectrum has the audacity to take up my time for free! The evaluation focused totally on the rep and not on the company. Although he was only following company procedures, I had no option but to give the lowest rating, viz., "very dissatisfied." After giving me the option several times of changing my rating, Spectrum ended its call with the computer voice saying: "I'm sorry, we are having technical difficulties" or some such. In other words, the bad eval was not counted. So much for honesty.
Contrary to their (corny) commercials featuring Halloween creatures asserting the goodness of this company and the evilness of its competitor, Spectrum is Evil.

Numerous other places have tried to provide my area with either internet or cable over the decades and been sued every time by Charter and then been absorbed when their capital was expended on legal fee's and it was sell or die. As long as government from the federal level , net neutrality gone ...yikes!!! , to right down to the city level keep getting payments from Charter that will not change. And the is why Charter will NEVER change. Sure they lose many customers in the more condensed area's of the country , less so as they buy out every other cable provider , they are the only non-dish option for many in the nation. They don't have to improve as there is no choice B to contact for a different choice. Their internet is always slower than advertised. Their customer service is clearly farmed out to for profit prisons , fun way to find out...ask them if they got where they were by choice or if they unknowingly drove away the get away car. The one's in the for profit prisons lose their shit. That works with most companies though. Everyone you talk to these days is either a computer or a inmate. The television service is shit. The phone service is shit. Charter is shit. I used to think Bresnan was shit , oh how wrong I was...I yearn for those days of old. They called me back and said can't fix because it is to close to the landline phone line which I don't even have. They are just a bunch of lazy people that don't want to do any work but charge you for zero services

instead they are screwwing the honest hard working americans and giving hand out to the lazy !
i received 3 offers in the mail for this deal...everyone was written in spanish first and then under that was small print in english....hmmmmmm i wonder who they are targeting ???

Charter sadly has the monopoly where I live and their internet sucks. It is the most inconsistent internet ever. Every few minutes it would disconnect and most the time when I am connected it is really slow. This irritates me because I am running my own small youtube channel and it is almost impossible to upload videos. Uploading a ten-minute video took 5 hours and it would have taken 6 or 7 if I did not use up my data a little bit to make my phone a hotspot.

Charter internet is horrible. The Internet keeps going in and out every couple of minutes Charter said I had to change the router channels which I did and no changes . So then charter blamed it on my router so I sent the router back because it was uder warranty the manufacture said there was nothing wrong with the router I since have replaced the router 2 more times. No change.so charter comes out again and this time says my computer is old and that is why I am having issues. So I replaced my computer still no changes. Now Charter said Imy house is to well built. I sapose I should live in a cardboard box so my internet connection would stop dropping every ten minutes. I am looking for a new provider in Watertown wi.

Had Time Warner for years, and although they weren't the greatest, my WiFi at the least worked!
Since having had to be forced to move to Charter (thanks to Spectrums Charter coverage having moved only two cities over... which makes no sense...) My wifi is at best 4mbps Up and 500kbps - 1mbps Down! The shit is that!?? I pay $45 a month and can barely search for a Gif!

I want to throw my modem and router down the food disposal!

Charter Spectrum simply does not work. The DVR won’t playback. The On Demand doesn’t work. And customer service is non-existent. They act like consumer ignorance is the problem. They are liars and...

Charter Spectrum simply does not work. The DVR won’t playback. The On Demand doesn’t work. And customer service is non-existent. They act like consumer ignorance is the problem. They are liars and thieves. They collect money for services they do not provide. There ought to be some legal recourse. I’ve filed complaints with consumer reports AND the NC attorney general. I guess my only option is to do without!

Have had Spectrum since June 2017. Have had 14 techs at the house to try and fix DVR not recording, On demand not working and premium channels not coming up. Each time you call and they send a different tech out that does not know anything about the problem. The customer service is actually the worst (next to Lowrance fishing equipment). Talked to three managers who "Promised" they would "Escalate" this issue and it will be fixed within 24 hours. needless to say I will be canceling in two days. It really amazes me how these cable companies can charge for what they call service and not be held accountable for their garbage service and product. I look forward to the day they go out of business!
